5 days

I'm looking at my calendar, and with only five days left I can't help but feel a little worried that I still need to get a few things. Today, I plan on shopping for little things like bug repellant, a poncho, some hand sanitizer and other things I may need for the trip. I've never been great at making lists because there's always something that I forget.

I'm known for being a procrastinator when it does come to packing. It some how seems to work out just fine in the end. The packing gets done, and I don't have to worry about getting easily distracted. I'll probably get a head start on Monday..... we'll see about that.

Well, I still have a whole day ahead of me to get stuff done. Hope you have a good day!

8 days left

As I continue to prepare for this trip with the few days I have left, I look back and see all that God has provided me with so far to get me to Mozambique. I can't help but give him all the glory for that. $3200 is a lot to raise, but I have learned that when He wants you to be somewhere, He will provide you with what you need to be able to go. As excited as I am to be going, it's hard for me to believe that it really is in 8 days. That's basically a week! It just doesn't seem like it's coming that soon. Time seriously flew right by me. I feel like it was only a couple weeks ago that I was applying for Mozambique, and now here I am in my final preparations for this trip. Oh yes, I'm going.

A first of many... maybe

In this last month I have been reading blogs from the mission trips that have gone to Liberia, Haiti, and Guatemala. It excites me to read them because in just about 13 days I will be on a 16 hour plane ride to go to Mozambique on my second mission trip. I had the privilege of going to Chicago, Illinois with my youth group in 2009 to help reconstruct a youth center for children and teenagers to come to and feel safe while they hang out, play, and just be kids. There is a special place in my heart for Chicago, and I would love to go there again one day. "You needed Chicago more than Chicago needed you." This has stuck with me ever since, and I will not forget it. It was a phrase that a guest pastor told us during his sermon. It was true for all of us, and is true for my team and I as we continue to prepare for Mozambique. We need Mozambique more than Mozambique needs us.
